Overview

Visual Garden ("we", "us") operates a visual inspiration platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, your rights, and your choices.

Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, name, authentication identifiers (via Supabase Auth), and terms acceptance timestamp.
  • Content you upload or save: images, board names, prompts, descriptions, source URLs, and metadata associated with your library.
  • Usage data: basic product analytics (pages visited, feature usage) when you consent to analytics cookies.
  • Onboarding progress: stored locally and synced to your account to guide setup.
  • Reports: if you report content, we store the report details and your user ID.

How we use data

We use your data to provide the service: storing your library, running AI generation and analysis (via third-party providers), displaying public boards in Explore, moderating reported content, and communicating about your account.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Contract: processing needed to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, product improvement (analytics, with consent where required), and moderation.
  • Consent: analytics cookies and optional processing where we ask for your consent.
  • Legal obligation: where we must comply with law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to, or port your personal data. You can:

  • Download your data from Settings (account export).
  • Delete your account from Settings.
  • Contact us to exercise other rights.

Subprocessors

We use the following categories of service providers:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage (US/EU regions per project config).
  • Cloudinary — image hosting and optimization.
  • fal.ai — AI image generation when you use Mix, Remix, or Shuffle.
  • OpenAI — image captions, board style analysis, and content moderation checks.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Plausible — privacy-oriented analytics (with your consent where required).
  • Pinterest — public board/pin metadata when you import from Pinterest (we store pin IDs and source URLs).

International transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) where required by law.

Public content & default visibility

New boards are public by default. Public boards and their elements may appear in Explore for other signed-in users. You can set a board to private at any time before or after adding content. Uploaded files are stored in cloud storage; delivery URLs may be accessible when content is public. Private boards are not listed in public discovery feeds.

AI processing

When you upload, import, or generate content, we may send images and prompts to third-party AI providers:

  • OpenAI — automatic image descriptions on upload/import (unless excluded), and board style analysis from reference images.
  • fal.ai — image generation when you run Mix, Remix, or Shuffle with selected sources.

Board style learning is separate from generation. You can exclude individual elements from board style learning via Settings on an image. Excluded elements are not used to build your board's style profile or automatic shuffle references, but may still be sent to AI providers if you select them for generation or if we create searchable descriptions on import (unless excluded).

We do not sell your personal data.

Pinterest import

When you import from Pinterest, you represent that you have the right to use that content. We store pin identifiers and source URLs for attribution and deduplication. Re-importing syncs new pins only.

Children

Visual Garden is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data.

Retention & deletion

We retain your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your content and account data from our primary systems, including stored images. Backup copies may persist for up to 30 days before automatic purge.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication sessions. Analytics uses Plausible only after you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing site data or contacting us.
